PAUSE for Advice
Our Advisory Board serves as a critical think tank, sounding board, checkpoint, sense-checker, and collective mentor at PAUSE for Impact.
Almost every organisation has a board of directors, but not every organisation has an advisory board.
What’s common between Advisory Boards and Board of Directors?
Both boards serve one general purpose: steering the organisation to success.
On top of that, both boards represent the organisation in public matters and provide helpful perspectives and solid ideas.
The primary differences between an advisory board and a board of directors comes down to the legal responsibilities of each board. An advisory board has no governance responsibilities. That means members have no voting rights and cannot make financial decisions on the organisation’s behalf.
Advisory Board Roles & Responsibilities
PAUSE’s advisory board intentionally consists of professionals with a wide range of expertise to bring a cross section of rigour to all aspects of PAUSE’s business.
Typically, Advisory Boards focus on specific areas of an organisation’s needs ie:
Promoting the organisation in the community
Expanding an organisation’s network
Guiding the organisation’s leadership in specific subject matters including strategy, services, solutions and clients/audience.
Connecting an organisation to a new audience
PAUSE’s awesome board is no different.
1. Support the Organization’s Goals and Objectives
Provide wise counsel regarding myriad issues. Its essential operation is to support the organisation’s goals. The advisory board provides insight, it is however up to the organisation and leadership to decide whether or not to act upon it.
2. Provide Oversight, Guidance, and Expertise
Provide the latest techniques, knowledge, hacks, and trending industry information.
Many types of organisations can use an advisory board, especially in their early stages or during periods of transition. Some of our advisory board members have years of experience, some in your exact field, some have skill sets that you need at the moment, all are highly committed to and share PAUSE’s vision.
Our advisory board exists to help PAUSE stay on top of needs, patterns, trends, best-practice and action. This could mean being proactive and staying ahead of the curve, identifying the gaps and opportunities, streamlining operations, and our services, or tailoring or offers and message to reach a wider audience.
3. Serve as a Mentor
Our advisory board provides strategic advice and expertise that we need to reach our goals. In all situations, advisory board members are experienced and trusted advisors. Our board uses their skills to guide PAUSE in the right direction.
